Friday 1/31/14

Today's Conditions
Temperature: -5 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind chill: -14 degrees Fahrenheit
Dew point: -10 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind: 5mph S
Cloud cover: Partly cloudy

As I predicted, today's skies were scattered with clouds and temperatures hovered over zero and dropped dramatically with any gusts of wind. Tomorrow we should expect heavy cloud cover and temperatures to rise considerably with the low pressure system moving in from the northwest.

Scattered clouds and cold
Low pressure moving in soon
Cloudy with warm air

Thursday 1/30/14

Today's Conditions
Temperature: 5 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind chill: -9 degrees Fahrenheit
Dew point: -5 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind: 9mph W
Cloud cover: Clear

I was correct about today's forecast, this morning Eau Claire received about a half a foot of snow. It seemed to precipitate about an inch per hour up until noon. In the early afternoon the high pressure system pushed in to clear the skies and drop the temperatures for the rest of the night. Tomorrow we should expect more temperatures above zero with some cloud cover as well.

Wednesday 1/29/2014

Today's Conditions
Temperature: 6 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind chill: -9 degrees Fahrenheit
Dew point: -5 degrees Fahrenheit
Relative humidity: 60%
Wind: 10mph N
Cloud cover: Clear

As I predicted, today is sunny and much warmer than yesterday's temperatures. It is still cold enough to send the windchill below zero, and the scattered wind gusts have been playing with the thermometer since this morning. There is an advancing low pressure system with a cold front from the north, so there is a good chance that we may see some snow in the near future.

Tuesday 1/28/14

Today's Conditions
Temperature: -5 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind chill: -22 degrees Fahrenheit
Dew point: -14 degrees Fahrenheit
Relative humidity: 65%
Wind: 10mph N
Cloud cover: Clear

Today began with some scattered cloud cover but ended with clear skies. Mild gusts tonight will keep the windchill in the negative 20's. As I predicted, the temperatures were warmer than yesterday but we have yet to break into the positive integers. With an advancing warm front and no low pressure systems in sight, tomorrow's temperatures should rise considerably despite the lack of cloud cover.

Again, it's freezing

Monday 1/27/14

Today's Conditions
Temperature: -9 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind chill: -20 degrees Fahrenheit
Dew point: -27 degrees Fahrenheit
Relative humidity: 65%
Wind: 5mph W
Cloud cover: Clear

Today was the coldest day of the school year so far. There were no clouds today which allowed all of the sun's heat to rise and escape from warming the surface of the planet. My prediction was generally correct for the weekend and it appears as if this week is going to remain extremely cold with wind gusts during the night. Some cloud cover tomorrow should trap in heat and allow the temperatures to rise a little more than the readings today.

Friday 1/24/14

Today's Conditions
Temperature: 30 degrees Fahrenheit
Dew point: 28 degrees Fahrenheit
Relative humidity: 91%
Wind: 2 mph W
Cloud cover: Overcast and snowy

I was correct with yesterday's prediction that today would be warmer and cloudy. It wasn't as windy as I predicted and it also snowed quite a bit in the afternoon. It appears as if a high pressure system is moving in from the north, so I predict that tomorrow will be much colder and less cloudy.

Today's Haiku

Today there was snow
Tomorrow will be colder
And maybe sunny

Thursday 1/23/14

Today's Conditions
Temperature: -7 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind chill: -26 degrees Fahrenheit
Dew point: -18 degrees Fahrenheit
Relative humidity: 59%
Wind: 12mph WSW
Cloud cover: Clear

Today's gusts of wind resulted extremely cold temperatures in the Eau Claire area. A windchill advisory has been called into effect until tomorrow morning, predicting temperatures between 25 degrees below zero and 35 degrees below zero.  The sky was clear today but I predict it will be warmer, cloudy and possibly windy tomorrow with the advancing low pressure system from the north.

Today's Haiku

Holy crap it's cold
But tomorrow should be nice
If not, I'm moving
