Freezing rain was certainly present in the early morning and luckily it wasn't bad enough to cause many problems on the roads and sidewalks. There was some sleet present during my walk to campus, the ice pellets flying into my eyeballs did not feel pleasant. The massive winter storm that was projected to annihilate Eau Claire never passed through but instead went south to Chicago. A series of low pressure systems over Kansas are producing a long trough that is causing all the surrounding wind to pour in towards it, including winds from Hudson Bay to pass through Eau Claire from the northeast. Again there is a precipitation system over the Dakotas that may reach our area, causing rain or sleet depending on how low the temperature reaches. At the moment we are just barely above freezing so snow in the near future isn't a bad guess.
Today's Haiku
Winter storm missed us
I got some sleet in my eye
Don't recommend it
